Graphite nanosheet (NanoG) was prepared by sonicating expanded graphite (EG) in an aqueous alcohol solution and was plated with nickel through an electrodeposition method. The X-ray diffraction spectrum shows that nickel was successfully plated onto the graphite surface and the nickel thickness is about 27.89 nm. The microstructures

of the Ni/NanoG were characterized by scanning electron microscopy and transmission electron microscopy. The results reveal that nickel particles with the average diameter WH-4-023 order of 25 nm are coated on NanoG surface homogeneously and densely. Energy dispersive spectrometry spectrum confirms that the Ni content coated on NanoG surface, whose atomic percentage is 61%, BI-D1870 manufacturer is much higher than that of C element. The values predicted by theoretical model were underestimated the thermal conductivity

of novolac/Ni/NanoG composites. Among NG, EG, NanoG, and Ni/NanoG four kinds of particles, the Ni/NanoG improved the thermal conductivity of novolac resin significantly. (C) 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Appl Polym Sci, 2012″
“We have simulated bipolar nanopore fluidic diodes for different values of surface charge densities, electrolyte concentrations, and thickness of transition zone. Nanopore enrichment leads to increased nanopore conductivity with the surface charge density at low electrolyte concentrations. Potential drop across the nanopore and electric field inside the nanopore decreases. Forward current and ionic current rectification peaks for a specific value of surface charge density. Even though the electro-osmotic current component remains small as compared to other components, its non-inclusion in the modeling leads to serious errors in the solutions. Significant ion current rectification can be obtained even if transition zone between oppositely charged zones is not narrow. The effect of the surface charge is screened by counterions PHA-848125 concentration at higher electrolyte concentrations, which leads to reduced electrolyte polarization and

a decrease in the ion current rectification. (C) 2011 American Institute of Physics. [doi:10.1063/1.3656708]“
“Heterotrimeric G proteins composed of G alpha, G beta, and G gamma subunits are important signalling agents in both animals and plants. In plants, G proteins modulate numerous responses, including abscisic acid (ABA) and pathogen-associated molecular pattern (PAMP) regulation of guard cell ion channels and stomatal apertures. Previous analyses of mutants deficient in the sole canonical Arabidopsis G alpha subunit, GPA1, have shown that G alpha-deficient guard cells are impaired in ABA inhibition of K(+) influx channels, and in pH-independent activation of anion efflux channels.
